WHY SHOULD I GIVE?

The Bible gives multiple reasons why we should give. Three key reasons include:

1. God gave first: We worship a generous God. The most famous verse in the Bible says that ‘God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son (John 3:16)(https://read.csbible.com/?book=john&chapter=3). We give because God first gave to us.
2. To worship God: Jesus warned that it is impossible to serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24)(https://read.csbible.com/?book=matthew&chapter=6). One of the ways we demonstrate the fact that we worship God and not our money is by giving it away.
3. To be enriched: Paul told the Ephesians elders, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’ (Acts 20:35)(https://read.csbible.com/?book=acts&chapter=20). The act of giving is spiritually enriching.

While all of our giving is ultimately a gift given to God, the Bible highlights a few key people groups that Christians can and should give to:

HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE?

The Bible calls us to show sacrifical generosity in response to God's grace shown to us in Jesus. So when we're deciding how much to give a good starting point is to ask:
 
"how much have I received from God?"

Everyone's situation is different but if you want to know what generosity looks like, why not try starting by adding up all your income streams and then figuring out what 10% of that is. Eyeball that figure, and then ask God to help you use it as a springboard for generosity.
